How many ways can you use the same item? Basics don’t have to be black or solid. I like to build looks around any item that I love… When I was young (5?) it was red cowboy boots – I wore them everyday, with everything. (Actually that’s not such a bad idea now…)
I own a maxi just like the one pictured and I rarely wear it! So I went to Polyvore to mix-match for some new ideas. SOME of these items I already have a reasonable sub for, some are on my “to buy” list (hello turquoise boots, you WILL be mine someday!)
Outfit review: 1. Skirt with dark camisole and pink cardigan. Previously I wrote about my need for a pink cardigan. I would give this a 10/10 – would definitely wear this combo… BUT I still don’t have a damn pink cardigan. I know, I know, I can hardly believe it myself. I found one at Land’s End but I’m still on the fence about it. Honestly, this is so important I might need to get 2-3 pink cardigans. But not this one:

2. Skirt, Chambray Blouse, brown leather belt – another 10/10 and I have these items already. Beloved Turquoise Boots is first choice for shoes, alas, I’ll wear already owned red boots or pink Cons. Even tho I hate those “10 items every woman should own” type lists, a blue chambray shirt is a highly used item for me, I suggest you get one! Extra credit if it has pearly snaps!
3. Skirt, Butterfly T, Red rosette belt. IF I had these I would say 3/10, as is. I love the red belt, but the butterfly T would need to have long enough sleeves to cover my flappy arms… i will not go off on flappy arms, i will not go off on flappy arms, i will not… I would wear this look with pink cardi or denim jacket or mint cardi for flap coverage. Probably add sparkly lace-up shoes
4. Skirt, mint cardi, striped bustier-type top. Again, only with the cardi, or jacket. The top is cute but I’m pretty modest, so even with good flap coverage I would have to see how much boobage shows… I do love the idea of stripes with the tye-dye.
5.Skirt, Concert T, Red belt again – A definite maybe… I would probably wear some camisole, shaper, skinny-T type thing under the cropped concert T to feel most comfy – “white belly-pooch ahead” is not something I want to hear!
Choose something you love, then put as many items as you can with it. Get creative and crazy and see what you can come up with… I bet you will surprise yourself. NOW, WEAR IT! Post photos! Share!
Does it feel great?
